About
Christian Grou is a Hamburg-based trans-disciplinary media architect working across boundaries of design. Main areas include architecture and urbanism, but also experimental moving image, screen based design and interactive installations.
Christian gained an MA in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Stuttgart. He has taught at schools such as the London School of Economics, the Architectural Association in London and the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. He is a founding partner of the collective ‘Neutral’, a production studio which he co-directed between 1998 and 2019.
Christian has engaged in collaborations with creators such as architects Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, David Adjaye, fashion designer Hussein Chalayan and choreographer Sasha Waltz on film, animation and interactive projects. Commercial projects include design and art direction for various large global corporations including Lufthansa and Panasonic.
Christian's design work has been exhibited internationally, at venues including the V&A, Tate Modern and Design Museum in London; the Guggenheim Museum and MoMA in New York and frequently as part of the Architecture Biennale in Venice.
Represented by and working in close collaboration with the London based design and production collective Neutral.
